Additional personnel: George Martin (piano). Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, London, England and EMI Pathe Studios, Paris, France. Tracks 1-7 were featured in the film "A Hard Day's Night." A HARD DAY'S NIGHT was the first Beatles album to feature all original material (written by Lennon/McCartney), and the first to feature George Harrison playing his Rickenbacker electric 12-string guitar (on the opening chord of "A Hard Day's Night," for instance). The distinctive sound of the 12-string influenced Roger McGuinn of The Byrds, among others. Capitol released these CDs in their original British formats. The British LPs had 14 songs, compared to only 12 in the US versions. In addition, the British LPs did not contain many of the singles, under the theory that most fans had already bought the singles, so that the LPs would contain all new music. back to top |
